RAASAY HUNGARIAN OAK LTD RELEASE

A new and exciting addition to Isle of Raasay’s Oak Species Maturation Series. Fully matured in ex-oloroso casks made using Hungarian oak from the Zemplén Mountains. As opposed to virgin oak, the use of sherry casks, along with the tighter grain of Hungarian oak allows for an amazing balance of the spiciness of the oak with the rich fruitiness of the oloroso sherry. Bottled at 50% abv, and limited to only 8000 bottles globally, this whisky promises to be a new and interesting release for whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

On the nose, orange peel and citrus notes are balanced by cinnamon and ginger spice, with a backbone of light peat smoke. This translates onto the palate to spicy ginger, coffee, chocolate, the rich fruitiness of oloroso with the light peak smoke which is Raasay’s style. Culminating in a meaty and citrussy finish of bacon and orange peel.
