Tasting Notes

The Rioja Crianza from Bodegas Urbina is cherry red, with good intensity dominated by tertiary notes thanks to ageing in American oak. It is balanced and complex, with elegant red fruit and blackcurrant, hints of coconut and white pepper, and aromatic gestures such as incense, thyme, dill, and orange peel. Good structure and persistence, with refreshing acidity.

Food Pairing

Urbina’s Rioja Crianza has a good structure balanced with refreshing acidity and complexity, making it a wonderful accompaniment to herby bean stews like alubias a la calatana or light roast meats such as small game birds.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Salvador Urbina in 1870 moved to Cuzcurrita and produced the first wine wines, with vineyards still used in Urbina wines.

His sons Ciriaco and Paquita continue the profession, and they are Pedro and Jesús Angel, grandchildren of Salvador, who in 1986 began to produce in the current cellar in stainless steel tanks.

Currently the winery leads the fourth generation, Angel, Pedro and Santiago are important professionals in the sector, (catadores, researchers, engineers and doctors), backed by a great winemaking experience.
