A fresh, crisp wine showing all the fine qualities of the unique Furmint grape. Aromas of grape flowers, apple and pear combine with flavours of ripe apricot and peach to produce a sleek, intense dry wine with a long, refreshing finish.

After a late start, a warm and pleasant June led to an ideal mid-month flowering. Summer began hot but temperatures dropped towards the end of August and it remained unseasonably cool in early September. This weather prolonged ripening and maintained freshness and we waited until the first days of October before completing harvest, encouraging wines with very bold structure, excellent minerality, depth and balance.

Whole bunches were pressed and then fermented partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in barrels (15% new oak). After fermentation both lots remained in their vessels on fine lees for further maturation to add subtle overtones and complexity.

Delicious as an aperitif, with seafood, white meats or spicy food.

Serve cool.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

A mystery of a wine region, whose potential is only starting to be fully released again by the fine wine world, Tokaji is, in our belief, the best and most excting sweet wine region in the world.

The most instrumental producer in this miraculous resurgence is undoubtedly Royal Tokaji. Voted one of the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands by Drinks International, it was founded by celebrated wine writer Hugh Johnson and was the first foreign company to invest in the historic region after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today, they produce an amazing range of wines that make Sauternes quake in their boots.

From the outset, Royal Tokaji focused on producing single-vineyard wines made from the first-growth sites of Mezes Maly, Nyulaszo, Szt Tamas, and Betsek. These wines are in a league of their own and are highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike. And these exceptional site productions are made only produced in exceptional years.
