The Lochend Blend is six different single malt whiskies
married in an Australian Tawny Barrel.
The backbone of this limited release rests on a
single cask of Ledaig for smokey coastal notes,
add to that Caol Ila, Ben Nevis, Brackla, Macduff,
and Highland Park for body.
It’s a serious whisky wrapped up in a fun label
with a name that’s equally as fun to say. We like
to say it’s ‘fun to say, fun to drink’.
This release came about as a result of two
things: Firstly the feedback from our first year
of trading, secondly that we set out from day
one to release a Blind Summit Whisky that
could be enjoyed by a wide range of drinkers at
an affordable price point.
The Lochend Blend takes a little of everything we
did in year one and blends it to make something
fun and very drinkable. All Malt, Tawny Cask,
quality ingredients, epic artwork.
The label art is by our friend Danny Crofts, look
him up he’s a very talented graphic designer
and such a nice dude. It’s based on an image of
Lochend Park.
A personal spot for us, unique and full with
history; a place James would walk his Dog Vinnie
and Jamie would tell friends was fast becoming
‘the new Leith Links’. The blends is named after
a blended malt that we used to make at home.
The first versions of The Lochend Blend were
always quality ends from single malts released by
our indie bottling peers. No home made edition
was ever this good however, no kitchen can
replace a warehouse and no 5L cask is as great
as a full Aussie Tawny Barrel.
We’re very proud of this wee blended malt and
can’t wait to see it out in the world. It’s priced for
drinking and sharing.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
BLIND SUMMIT
Taking a hands-on approach we taste, source, re-rack, bottle and deliver ourselves. This takes time as there are just two of us, but it’s a rewarding way to stay connected to the whiskies and the people in the industry we love.
THE PROCESS
We source small parcels of whisky, then further mature or re-rack into another cask to add more layers of flavour. The cask selection draws on our collective whisky and wine knowledge.
The labels are the result of local collaborations, working with talented friends and designers to create an original image for each release. The initial image tells a story that is close to us, the artist then interprets that photo into their original design, with a different version appearing on each whisky expression.
Supporting local and small has always been a shared priority, which is why we strive to collaborate with people and businesses in our local Leith community.
